My story
Born in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, I competed in the national science olympiad (OSN), representing my province at the national level, then studied physics at Institut Teknologi Bandung, where I graduated as the best graduate of my programme in 2020. Along the way I spent three months as a research intern at KAIST in South Korea and was named the best international intern, joined the Sakura Science exchange at Osaka University, and volunteered in a national initiative in rural Papua. I also worked on propulsion in Aksantara ITB, the team that took second place at the national flying-robot contest, and ran Phiwiki, a student business of 47 people.
The two years after graduation were spent in Jakarta. I tutored physics and then managed video production at Zenius, an education technology company. I interned as a management consultant at Fortia Strategic Partner, where one project was the divestment of a state-owned subsidiary. I co-founded two ventures that failed: a fried-chicken micro business and Eduneira, an edtech micro business where I was co-founder and chief financial officer (CFO). I then joined the Gerakan Inisiatif Listrik Tenaga Surya (GERILYA) programme at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, managing a solar energy course for 60 students selected nationally, and became a Solar Engineer at Rancang Prima Sejahtera, designing residential systems. In 2022 I started Solarin to teach solar energy in Indonesian.
An Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) scholarship brought me to Sydney in 2022 for the Master of Engineering Science in Solar Energy Engineering at UNSW. I started on the roof as a Solar Installer on the 60 MWp installation at Moorebank Logistics Park, the largest rooftop solar system in the Southern Hemisphere, then became a Solar Engineer Intern at Mindaro, then a Graduate Solar Engineer and Solar Engineer at AGL, where I was lead engineer on a 37-site national rooftop rollout worth $1.6 million. I graduated with Excellence in early 2024, volunteered on a solar energy-access project in rural Fiji, and ran my first half marathon.
In May 2024 I began a PhD at UNSW, funded by a University International Postgraduate Award with support from Ausgrid, RACE for 2030 and the NSW Decarbonisation Innovation Hub. Since January 2025 I have also worked in Ausgrid's demand forecasting team. The work has been presented at IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) conferences in Auckland, Wuhan and Hobart, won the School's Three Minute Thesis competition, and earned a Digital GreenTalents Award that takes me to Germany for a research exchange in 2027.
The three fields I work across
Renewable energy
I have installed solar for my family garden, worked professionally to design it and deliver it as a project engineer, and now forecast its effect on the network. Credentials: Accredited Solar Designer, Grid-Connect Design Only (Solar Accreditation Australia); Senior Supervisor of Solar Installation, Sertifikat Kompetensi Tenaga Teknik Ketenagalistrikan (SKTTK) Level 5 (Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia); White Card, Working Safely at Heights, Gold Card elevated work platform (EWP) and telescopic handler (TSH) operator licence, and Provide First Aid. I demonstrate in more than ten courses at the UNSW School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering, including grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system design, stand-alone PV system design, and Consumer Energy Resources Operation and Integration.
Data science
My PhD produces four open-source Python tools. At Ausgrid I work daily with Databricks, Git and DevOps to develop models that cluster customer segments from their demand data, project population, detect reverse-power-flow sign errors and assess the impact of tariffs with a free-electricity window such as the Solar Sharer Offer. Credentials: Databricks Data Analyst Associate, Data Engineer Professional and Machine Learning Engineer Professional; Microsoft PL-300 Power BI Data Analyst Associate; Microsoft Azure Data Scientist Associate; IBM Data Science Professional Certificate; Machine Learning Specialization (Stanford University); Deep Learning Specialization and Mathematics for Machine Learning and Data Science (DeepLearning.AI); R Programming (Johns Hopkins University).
Finance
Credentials: passed Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level III (CFA Institute); Sustainable Investing Certificate (CFA Institute); Certified Financial Planner (CFP); Investment Manager Representative (WMI, The Indonesia Capital Market Institute); Business and Finance Associate (BFA), Applied Tax (Brevet Pajak) AB and Certificate in Accounting, Finance and Business (Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants); Introduction to Finance and Accounting (Wharton); Introduction to Financial Accounting (University of California, Irvine). I was selected for the Consulting Leadership Development Program at McKinsey & Company, one of 126 from more than 850 applicants, and took first place at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Round Table case competition in Sydney in 2025.
International exposure
I have studied, worked and volunteered in several countries, including rural areas. Selected experience:
- Internship in South Korea: research intern at KAIST, Daejeon, 2019
- Exchange in Japan: Sakura Science Exchange Program, Osaka University, 2020
- Studies in Australia: Master's and PhD at UNSW Sydney, 2022 to now
- Research exchange in Germany: Digital GreenTalents Award, incoming 2027
- Conferences in New Zealand (IEEE PES Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, Auckland, 2025), China (IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Asia, Wuhan, 2026) and Hobart (IEEE PES Australasian Universities Power Engineering Conference, 2026)
- Volunteering in rural Papua (2019) and rural Fiji (2023)
Pet projects
Some projects I do for fun:
Family garden solar install
I designed and installed a small PV system for the family garden in 2018 and wrote it up; the post drew more than a hundred reader comments.

I speak Indonesian and Javanese natively, English and German, and I am learning French and Arabic. I ran the Sydney half marathon in 2024. I have three life role models: for the way I see life, Scrooge McDuck; as an engineer, Henry Ford; and as an aspiring entrepreneur, Phil Knight. Their biographies are my favourites of all time, and a lot of my values are highly influenced by those three books.
